Area information
The construction of this large cathedreal began in 1296, in place of the old cathedral of Santa Reparata. The original project was by Arnolfo di Cambio but the structure was completed by another architect, Giotto. From the terrace of the Duomo there is a wonderful views of the cathedral.
The Piazza del Duomo, the heart of Florence, is full of beautiful shops and prestigious cafès and restaurants.
